When you can't cope

When you are in the height of chaos Praise God and let Him defuse the situation.

Psalm 32:7 You are my hiding place; you will protect me from trouble and surround me with songs of deliverance.

So long to be with God

If you long to be with God then the path is as follows:

John 15:9-17

“I have loved you even as the Father has loved me. Remain in my love. When you obey my commandments, you remain in my love, just as I obey my Father’s commandments and remain in his love. I have told you these things so that you will be filled with my joy. Yes, your joy will overflow! This is my commandment: Love each other in the same way I have loved you. There is no greater love than to lay down one’s life for one’s friends. You are my friends if you do what I command. I no longer call you slaves, because a master doesn't confide in his slaves. Now you are my friends, since I have told you everything the Father told me. You didn't choose me. I chose you. I appointed you to go and produce lasting fruit, so that the Father will give you whatever you ask for, using my name. This is my command: Love each other.

God wants us to be His friends. That is awesome. We don't deserve it but this friendship is offered freely. Grab it and long to be with God. Walk with Him.

Be with Him in the secret places and in the market place.

He longs for you, match this longing.

Pursue God with all your heart.

Pull yourself together!

Pull yourself together!

This phrase can have a devastating effect on a person who is fighting with anxiety, different forms of depression or fatigue. They don’t want to be down hearted and feel useless. But a spirit has tricked them into believing that there is no hope, no solution and no getting out of the hole they are in.
Isaiah brings hope when he says in chapter 30:18

But the LORD still waits for you to come to him so he can show you his love and compassion. For the LORD is a faithful God. Blessed are those who wait for him to help them.

Waiting can feel like the last thing you want to do when all seems lost. However that is exactly what is needed. Time, healing and a listening ear. When a mind is fighting with all its might to find its way back, sprinting is not the answer. If we streak ahead we may end up where we were but in a worse state.

When the disciples were in the boat and a great storm was raging all around them Jesus slept. Why? Because He knew there was no danger, however it seemed completely the opposite to the disciples. They panicked and woke Jesus up.

Mark 4:35-41
Jesus was sleeping at the back of the boat with his head on a cushion. The disciples woke him up, shouting, “Teacher, don’t you care that we’re going to drown?”

When Jesus woke up, he rebuked the wind and said to the waves, “Silence! Be still!” Suddenly the wind stopped, and there was a great calm.  Then he asked them, “Why are you afraid? Do you still have no faith?”

The disciples had their master physically with them and they were afraid. They felt fear, were anxious and panicked. Who of us have never felt those feelings? Jesus calmed the seas for his friends. What would have happened if they had trusted and left Him sleeping? I imagine He would have awoken in time whatever happened as He was in charge.

Jesus does not leave us in our darkness; He is there throughout the storm. However, there might be a spirit that wants you to listen to it. All the time you feed on its interpretation of the truth you will remain in the pit. But the LORD still waits for you to come to him so he can show you his love and compassion. Jesus is the ladder out of the pit. By taking time to read about the Truth, seeking out healing and listening to the right conversations in your mind you will begin to climb that ladder. A spirit that diseases the mind hates true thinking, its home will become unbearable and in time will want to hit the road.

If you hear the words “I am useless” it comes from an accusing spirit. You must counteract it with a verse like Psalm 139:14 I praise you, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made.

If you hear the words “I am helpless” it comes from a bad spirit. You must counteract it with a verse like Psalm 18 I love you God – you make me strong.
If you hear the words “What’s the use” it comes from an accusing spirit. You must counteract it with a verse like Philippians 4:13 For I can do everything through Christ, who gives me strength.

If you hear the words “I am afraid” it comes from a bad spirit. You must counteract it with a verse like Deuteronomy 31:6 Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid or terrified because of them, for the Lord your God goes with you; he will never leave you or forsake you.

For every malignant thought there is a counteraction, a truth to dispel the lie.

Can the devil look you in the eye of truth – no?

Can Jesus – yes.

Picture Jesus looking you in the eyes and saying,

I am with you always, even unto the end of the world. (Matt 28:20)

And

I love you.

These are truths. These bring healing of the mind.

Isaiah 41:13 For I, the Lord your God, hold your right hand; it is I who say to you, “Fear not, I am the one who helps you.”

1 Corinthians 15:57 But thanks be to God, who gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ.

There is only one Spirit that gives us Peace, and only that Spirit should inhabit our minds. If we do not have peace then it is possible that another spirit is calling the shots and this needs to be cast out by the authority of Jesus Christ.

Luke 4:33-36

And in the synagogue there was a man who had the spirit of an unclean demon, and he cried out with a loud voice, “Ha! What have you to do with us, Jesus of Nazareth? Have you come to destroy us? I know who you are—the Holy One of God.” But Jesus rebuked him, saying, “Be silent and come out of him!” And when the demon had thrown him down in their midst, he came out of him, having done him no harm. And they were all amazed and said to one another, “What is this word? For with authority and power he commands the unclean spirits, and they come out!”

Jesus is the answer and the only answer to the mind of confusion that we suffer in today’s world. Let Him be your Truth and free you from all ills. With God’s help you can have freedom from the lies and begin again.

The LORD still waits for you to come to him so he can show you his love and compassion.

It is his invitation. He wants you to be wholly filled with His love, His strength and His mercy. There is no room for any other spirit.

Father God, help us to seek healing from unclean spirits so that we may have peace of mind, body, soul and spirit. Amen.

Free water, denied to some, sold to others.

Water, our life force.

Jesus replied, "I assure you, no one can enter the Kingdom of God without being born of water and the Spirit."

To deny water to mankind is to deprive him of life.

God freely gave His Son so that we can have life. He bled blood and water on the cross. Jesus gave us His blood and water freely. He paid the price.

Today mankind through war is deprived of water, the source of life. People drink contaminated water because of greed. And they die of a source that ought to give them life.

War is greed. Man is greedy, greedy for power and wealth. This wealth is founded on evil. It is corrupt, selfish and full of pride. It has no thought for the weak and helpless. It thrives on death. Death of persons, death of souls.

Matthew 25:40 says:
And the King will say, "I tell you the truth, when you did it to one of the least of these my brothers and sisters, you were doing it to me."

God gave freely. He created water for everyone to drink. War has polluted it and now we end up paying for it, in more ways than one.

War makes money, it is easy to see why it is chosen. Governments could overthrow war, but they don’t. They would prefer to get their life source from death rather than from life.

Someone wants war. Be it a Government, a dictator, or a faction.

James 4:1-2 says:
What is causing the quarrels and fights among you? Don’t they come from the evil desires at war within you? You want what you don’t have, so you scheme and kill to get it. You are jealous of what others have, but you can’t get it, so you fight and wage war to take it away from them. Yet you don’t have what you want because you don’t ask God for it.

Abraham Lincoln was walking down the street one day with his two boys, and they were both crying and frustrated. A man passing by asked, "What's wrong with your little boys?" Lincoln said, “Nothing more than what’s wrong with the world! I have three walnuts and each boy wants two.”

Does this ring a bell with you? Our wants have crescendoed and entered the final stage – war.

Ecclesiastes 3:8 says: There is a time for war and a time for peace. The Bible is very realistic. Sometimes war is the right thing.

But war must come to an end and the victims given a chance to get their lives back again and to drink from the well. Our world today does not seem to know when to stop. It seems to have forgotten what is normal. It is not normal to be constantly in conflict. But pride, want and money dictate now. Others needs are simply not important. But everyone has the right to draw water from the wells of salvation.

We must pray to God that He will settle the disputes.
Isaiah 2:4 says: and he shall judge among the nations, and shall rebuke many people: and they shall beat their swords into plowshares, and their spears into pruning hooks: nation shall not lift up sword against nation; neither shall they learn war any more.

The United Nations have this upon their wall. “They’ll hammer their swords into plows and their spears into pruning knives.”  But what they have not included is that, it is God who will settle disputes not the United Nations.

And we must heed this call from 1 Timothy 2:1-2
I urge you, first of all, to pray for all people. Ask God to help them; intercede on their behalf, and give thanks for them. Pray this way for kings and all who are in authority so that we can live peaceful and quiet lives marked by godliness and dignity.

Therefore we must pray that all peoples will be given their rightful inheritance, water from the wells of salvation. Water from an uncontaminated source. Peace so that swords can be made into plowshares and spears into pruning hooks. Life so that God may be praised.

Psalm 48:10
As your name deserves, O God, you will be praised to the ends of the earth. Your strong right hand is filled with victory.

Forgiveness and healing Matthew 18:21-22

Matthew 18:21-22

Then Peter came to Jesus and asked, "Lord, how often should I forgive someone who sins against me? Seven times?

"No not seven times" Jesus replied, "but seventy times seven!"

There are times when I am led to pray with people who are very hurt and have major issues with something. I am no counselor nor very wise, so I have to leave the words to God so that He can lead me in prayer to help the person who has asked for healing and peace.

Many times the person has an issue with forgiveness. They find it hard to forgive another person, situation or even God. Because of this their peace of mind is shattered and they can are angry, frustrated and dis at ease. They see the fault with the other person. But where does the real problem lie?

We can all take things the wrong way, get the wrong end of the stick, fester on an old wound which rears its ugly head when a word or action is said or done. Quite simply we are human. But ought we to allow others to attack our peace of mind and then ruminate over the hurt word or action for days, months or even years? Of course this is easier said than done, we have all been there and no doubt done exactly that.

When a person says 'I need prayer because someone has hurt me', the first thing I ask is, "have you forgiven them?", and secondly, "have you forgiven yourself for listening to them?" Usually there is a pause. Sometimes there is a 'yes' to the first question and a silence to the second, or a 'no' to the first question and a 'why do I need to forgive myself, I am not the one who has caused the problem?'

Forgiveness before healing.

It is easy to see why we need to forgive someone for hurting us, it is sometimes harder to see that we need to forgive ourselves for listening to the lies that the other person planted in our minds that are causing our lack of peace. We want to blame the other person, expect them to say sorry for their unkindness, to realize they have caused us unhappiness, we want them to take responsibility for their cruel actions towards us. Because of this we often don't see our need to forgive ourselves in a response to such things.

(Just to make something clear I am not talking about heinous crimes, where hurts are forced upon people.)

Sometimes writing things down can help, then we can see where we have listened to the wrong voice.

Here is an example.
A work colleague starts a rumour that I am jealous of her because she is better at her job. She is saying that I am telling others that she is lazy and incompetent.

My reaction, I feel hurt, upset and angry because I have not acted nor thought in that way. I want her to stop lying and talk to me about why she is being so unkind. She refuses and continues to spread the gossip. Work begins to become unbearable as others listen to the wrong story. I am seen as the bad guy.

I try to forgive, but the words and actions are eating away at me. Why are they eating away at me? They are causing me a problem because I have not forgiven myself for listening to them. If I write them down I will know that they are not true. They cannot harm me because they are founded on lies.

God is in the Truth, I must place this hurt at His feet to allow His precious blood to heal me and my response to this lie.

Once I have found peace with God and accepted His Truth, His understanding of forgiveness into my life, I can then go on to forgive the person for their actions. I can pray into the situation, call on the Truth and claim God's victory. This is the Amen. To add the Alleluia I then need to pray blessings on the person who has hurt me.

I have seen great healing occur when praying with people who have taken this path.

When we understand that we have to forgive ourselves as well as others, not seven times but seventy times seven we see the Power that is offered to us by God, who with His help can bring us closer to Him through the communion of forgiveness.

Matthew 6:14

"If you forgive those who sin against you, your heavenly Father will forgive you."

The Divine Gardener

John 15:2

He cuts off every branch of mine that doesn't produce fruit, and he prunes the branches that do bear fruit so they will produce even more.

I am a chicken, I hate being pruned, because it means I am not in control. Doesn't matter who does it, an employer, a child of mine, my husband, a friend or and more importantly God. I would rather run away than be pruned. I tend to take pruning as criticism and as yet that area in me is very fragile because I am not a confident person. The knocks of life have left me scared and hurting. My voice a small one as it hid (and still hides) from the more powerful, overbearing words of others through bullying.

When the pruning comes I tell it to go away, I am not ready for it, I like the way I am. But in truth I don't like the way I am, I want to be tended by the Divine Gardener as I know that without it I will remain hurt and in pain. I need Him to heal me so that I can embrace the Truths and see them clearly for what they are, instead of thinking they are attacks on me personally.

Damage is a terrible thing to a child, living a childhood in fear. Staying unnoticed so that you will be safe. This is not living but surviving. These branches need pruning, these lies need to be stripped away so that new growth can take their place. So that the child can grow up to be an adult.

God is my courage, my strength, my greatest fan. I want to be able to live in His Garden, to be brave and accept His pruning. Everything He does, He does for my benefit, so that I can grow into the beautiful person He sees. I want to believe His promises.

Genesis 12:2

I will make you into a great nation. I will bless you and make you famous and you will be a blessing to others.

I know that this was said to Abraham but it is also appropriate to all of us. Through God's healing we can be great, famous and a blessing to others. Not a selfish greatness, or famous for our own gain, but great in humility. Great in allowing God to prune us. Famous for being a vessel for God's love, grace, mercy, and compassion. We can be a wonderful blessing to those we know and are yet to know though being totally open to God's pruning.

God's love can only move one way, and that is towards unity with Him. Pruning allows that to happen. Allowing our branches to be pruned, accepting His caring, tender desire to trim us to His will, to be aligned with Him, which will ultimately bring us a deep peace. I need not be afraid as He is my strength in my weakness. He is my freedom.

The Divine Gardener is an expert in gardening, we are in perfectly safe hands. God will never prune us too much or too little, He will know exactly which branches need to be cut away and trimmed. What a wonderful thing it is to be in His expert hands.

We are the main character in God's best selling book.

Yes you are the hero of your story.

Every book needs a hero, a plot, a bad guy or two, a love interest, action, distraction, great supporting roles, sad and happy events and a finale.

All through the book there is a thread that runs in and out of each event. It is the stable influence that makes the book a successful novel. It is the reason why the hero takes great risks and accomplishes the impossible no matter the outcome.

In our book (life) that God has written for us we are the main character. God is the thread that runs through it, that helps us to accomplish the impossible no matter what. We are the hero/heroine. But often a reluctant one. We shy away from God's plan (story line) because we don't feel ready, able or worthy.

What we forget is that we are the main character, we can't just take off because we don't like the script, or the person/s supporting us. God has written the book for us. An individual, one off, best seller. Greater than an Oscar winning, Booker Prize winner.

As the central character our role is to create the most authentic, mind blowing performance of all time. Our Director expects no less as the Greatest Book Writer in the Universe. He wouldn't have written our script if we were not able to fulfill its role. He chose us for the role, he has every confidence that we can excel at it.

We have the starring role in our own unique book, fashioned in Words and Beauty. We were spoken into being. Are we prepared to be hero's/heroines of God's Words? To perform a life long Oscar performance for our Creator? To live lives that are Christ like, Love like, empowering others to take on their starring roles and to become versions of excellence in our own stories.

Philippians 4:8

Finally brothers, whatever is true, whatever is honorable, whatever is just, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is commendable, if there is any excellence, if there is anything worthy of praise, think about these things.

Yes we must think and act on these things as we imitate God in our Christian lives, taking lessons from the Author who has spoken us into being.

God's choice of hero/heroine is no mistake, He wants us to be champions of and for His Love. We are His chosen main characters, and although we are flawed and make mistakes we are still His choice.

Colossians 3:23-24

Whatever you do, work heartily, as for the Lord and not for men, knowing that from the Lord you will receive the inheritance as your reward. You are serving the Lord Christ.

God is always working for us

Why do we panic?

Why do we get anxious?

Why do we step off the safety of the pavement into the dangers of the road?

Who is in charge of our lives?

Who is our greatest fan?

Who is working in us to make us an image of our Maker?

We panic, get anxious and journey into danger because we loose sight of who created us.

God works endlessly for us and in us to bring about our destiny. He wants us to be whole and filled with His Spirit of Love so that we can breathe and drink Him in, every single day of our life and more importantly in the after life.

If we truly want to be with God we must yearn and seek Him requesting for more of Him in our lives. This must be our journey, working alongside God, not against Him, so that His destiny for us may be fulfilled.

God knows what he is doing. Give him the go ahead to take control of your life. He is an excellent driver and instructor. He has never crashed, nor caused a crash. He is the only course that can guarantee success. He will always give you 100% attention and will never leave you stranded.

God believes in you, why? Because you are His handiwork, His masterpieces.

Ephesians 20:10

For we are God's masterpiece. He has created us anew in Christ Jesus, so we can do the good things he planned for us long ago.

Therefore submit yourselves to God (James 4:7)

Man says "Show me and I will trust you"

God says "Trust me and I'll show you"

God has made it possible for us to know Him. When you know a friend you trust them. Knowing God means trusting Him. The comment "Show me and I will trust you" indicates a lack of knowledge of God and a desire to control our situation, but God says "Trust me and I'll show you". He wants us to let go of our control and allow God to be in charge.

If we trust God he will show us incredible things, He will do amazing things for us and with us, He will trust us with wonderful gifts, His gifts.

Therefore submit yourselves to God (James 4:7) and Trust Him.

Book in progress

I am in the process of doing my corrections and sorting out a front cover for my first book, called 'How to make Victoria Sponge'. Being dyslexic the task is going to take time as my grammar has never been a strong point. I am awaiting my publisher to contact me for when she is ready to proceed, so I want to be up and running when she makes the call.

I am very excited about this book and also about a short spin off book that is complete but again needs editing. Both have God being the main ingredient, and I am hoping that mums everywhere will enjoy the humour and ups and downs that travels through the book.

Exciting times. God made us with special ingredients, He being the most vital. I hope one day you will find out what those special ingredients are.

Psalm 136

God constantly shows us His world through his marvelous creation and more importantly through His wisdom. But do we see it? Do we cherish it? Do we look with wonderment at His work, the work of His hands?

I stand in awe at times as I look at the clouds, they are so beautiful and so different. They spread for miles outwards and upwards. I have never got over the first time I flew above the clouds with the sun setting. It is the most spectacular scene. My heart was just bursting with wonder.

And this is just a fragment of what he can make.

Only God works great miracles.

    God’s love never fails.
With wisdom he made the sky.
    God’s love never fails.
The Lord stretched the earth
over the ocean.
    God’s love never fails.
He made the bright lights
in the sky.
    God’s love never fails.
He lets the sun rule each day.
    God’s love never fails.
He lets the moon and the stars
rule each night.
    God’s love never fails.

When I look at a baby at its most vulnerable and precious moment, just after birth, I am awe struck at its beauty and innocence. I can't stop smiling at his/her little scrunched up face. Something in me just melts.

I love that word, 'melts'. God melts when He sees us. If he had knees they would wobble at our sight. His smile lights up the heavens at the beauty of His creation, us.

That thought, God melts when He sees us, just blows me away. We see the underside of the tapestry, but God only see the side with the spectacular picture on. Do we see the golden thread that runs through the portrait? That is God's Spirit healing us. God's love weaving in and out of our lives. Look closely next time and you will see that your image is slowly been transformed by those golden threads. When you see them, don't forget to thank Him and to remember God's love never ends. He delights in you, and he wants you to be a reflection of His Glorious Nature.

Psalm 65 What mighty praise, O God, belongs to you in Zion.

For the choir director: A psalm of David. A song.

1 What mighty praise, O God, belongs to you in Zion. We will fulfill our vows to you,

2 for you answer our prayers, and to you all people will come.

3 Though our hearts are filled with sins, you forgive them all.

4 What joy for those you choose to bring near, those who live in your holy courts. What joys await us inside your holy Temple.

5 You faithfully answer our prayers with awesome deeds, O God our savior. You are the hope of everyone on earth, even those who sail on distant seas.

6 You formed the mountains by your power and armed yourself with mighty strength.

7 You quieted the raging oceans with their pounding waves and silenced the shouting of the nations.

8 Those who live at the ends of the earth stand in awe of your wonders. From where the sun rises to where it sets, you inspire shouts of joy.

9 You take care of the earth and water it, making it rich and fertile. The rivers of God will not run dry; they provide a bountiful harvest of grain, for you have ordered it so.

10 You drench the plowed ground with rain, melting the clods and leveling the ridges. You soften the earth with showers and bless its abundant crops.

11 You crown the year with a bountiful harvest; even the hard pathways overflow with abundance.

12 The wilderness becomes a lush pasture, and the hillsides blossom with joy.

13 The meadows are clothed with flocks of sheep, and the valleys are carpeted with grain. They all shout and sing for joy!

Thank you Father for these amazing promises. Thank you that we are part of Your plan. Thank you that you desire us to live in Your Love. Thank you that you provide us with all our needs and give us abundantly. I stand in Awe of Your Love.  I am truly, humbly, grateful. Amen.
