Do we have the mind of Christ? Are our actions those that Jesus would applaud. Do we have hearts that are pure?
Our sinful nature does everything it can to stop us from planting, watering, nurturing, growing the seed that was given to us before we were born, and then delighting in the beautiful bloom that God created us to be. The world holds many distractions to take us away from the Son that shines on us, that gives us Life.
God looks on us with love. Do we do the same? Has life battered us so much that we cannot see the pure heart God gave us amongst the rubbish and lies that have tried to ruin us.
All though our life God sees the mess we get into, and he provides us with helpers, 'It's not important who does the planting, or who does the watering. What's important is that God makes the seed grow' 1 Cor 3:7.
Once the seed is nurtured by God's word and His Holy Spirit, we must strive to be pure of heart and our song joined with the deer that longs for streams of water (Ps 42:1). Our race to have hearts that are pure will be long and hard but God promises us in Isaiah 42:27-31 "O Jacob, how can you say the Lord does not see your troubles? O Israel, how can you say God ignores your rights? Have you never heard? Have you never understood? The Lord is the everlasting God, the Creator of all the earth. He never grows weak or weary. No one can measure the depths of his understanding. He gives power to the weak and strength to the powerless. Even youths will become weak and tired, and young men will fall in exhaustion. But those who trust in the Lord will find new strength. They will soar high on wings like eagles. They will run and not grow weary. They will walk and not faint." I love this verse, it is one of my favorite as I love the idea of souring on eagles wings. Purity of heart helps you to pour on God's words.
Pure hearts mean having faith in God and his Word. The disciples were fortunate because they saw Jesus. The pure in heart are blessed because "they believe without seeing (me)" John 20:29. However we still need to strive for purity of heart, a seed does not become a flower over night, the same with our hearts and souls. We must continue to center our lives on God, fuel our souls on His word and allow the Holy Spirit to take hold of our beliefs.
God blesses those whose hearts are pure for they will see God. Do we see God in our fellow human beings? If not then we must continue to strive to run the race until we do. We must strive to see as God sees, and what does God see? He sees jewels, beautiful creations of His Love. When we see as God sees we will see God.
