Heart felt weeping when it comes from the very depths of our being is an overwhelming feeling. Those moments of helplessness, hopelessness and feeling lost as the situation burdens us and gushes forth through gut wrenching tears.
We are in good company when this happens as Jesus too wept from his very depths. "Oh Jerusalem, Jerusalem you who kill the prophets and stone those sent to you, how often I have longed to gather your children together, as a hen gathers her chicks under her wings, and you were not willing. Matt 23:37 When Jesus "approached Jerusalem and saw the city, he wept over it" Luke 19:41. However, even our most hopeless tears can never equal Jesus' tears for His people.
We weep for the moment at hand, Jesus wept for what he knew would happen to Jerusalem if they did not align their lives with God. Even his sacrifice would not be enough for the minds of future generations whose stubbornness would blind them from the truth.
His tears are for those who do not believe, but His promise is, (Jesus told her) "I am the Resurrection and the life. Anyone who believes in me will live, even after dying." John 11:25.
God knows our grief, he truly feels it. He will help us through those times of tears. He will wipe away our tears with his handkerchief of Grace. Praise God for understanding our needs.
God bless.
