Matthew 5:14-16
You are the light of the world - like a city on a hilltop that cannot be hidden, No one lights a lamp and then puts it under a basket. Instead, a lamp is placed on a stand, where it gives light to everyone in the house. In the same way, let your good deeds shine out for all to see, so that everyone will praise your heavenly Father.
The Council where I live has decided to turn of the street lamps at night! It is pitch black outside and no one can see a thing. The only lights that are visible are the ones from the houses where the occupants are in and any cars that come down the cul-de-sac. It is obvious if a house is empty as it fades into the darkness.
Are we houses that fade into the darkness, or can our lights be seen by passerby's? Does anyone know that our light shines for Jesus? In your street, how many lights during this season were around a stable on the outside of a house? There were plenty Father Christmas', Snowmen, etc. A point to ponder!
We as Christians are all lights, but how bright is the light that you shine?
Do we cry like the psalmist?
psalm 43:3-4
Send out your light and your truth; let them guide me. Let them lead me to your holy mountain, to the place where you live. there I will go to the altar of God, to God - the source of all my joy. I will praise you with my harp, O God, my God.
Do we cry for God to be our light, the source of all light? Are we lights in this world? Do we take our light from His Light? Shine my friends, do not be afraid to be the brightest of lights. Let the world know that you are centered in God's light.
God bless.
