God's encouragement - Peace I leave with you

John 14:27 "Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid."

How often have we pondered over a situation, whether it is to do with a new job, or a new direction, change of circumstance involving the family, or just an everyday decision.

In all decisions Jesus is the answer. What does he want for us? If we ask this question and the answer brings us peace then we know that we are on the right path.

Me: Should I take this job?

Jesus: Proverb 3:5-6 "Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make your paths straight."

Me: Father if this job is the right one for me then open the door so that I might walk through it. If this job is not part of Your Will for me then I accept this door will be closed but another one will be shown to me by your Hand.

Psalm 16:8 "I have set the Lord always before me. Because he is always at my right hand, I will not be shaken."

2 Timothy 1:7 "For God did not give us a spirit of timidity, but a spirit of power, of love and of self discipline."

Handing our lives over to God is not a timid reaction, nor a cop-out as some non believers think. It takes strength, courage and self discipline to fully walk in Peace with our God. To allow Him to show us the way.

Why self discipline, because we are apt, at least I know I am, of taking things into our own hands and forcing the issue before God has completed His Plan. Because I am a doer not a waiter, I like to get on with things, but so often this has led to mistakes, and lack of peace.

Take Martha and Mary. (Luke 10:38-42) One sat and listened to the Word of God the other busied herself with making the dinner, serving others and doing what she thought was important. Meanwhile her mind was thinking, it is not fair I am running around after everyone and my sister is sitting doing nothing. Her mind was not at peace in her service. She was making things happen but not necessarily in the way God wanted. He would have been happy for her to just sit and listen, and to experience the peace that this brings. Did she hear God's word for her while she was rushing around?

Psalm 52:22 "Cast your cares on the Lord and he will sustain you; he will never let the righteous fall."

If we sit at the feet of Jesus and listen to him we will have food enough to sustain us. His peace will show us the way in our lives when we offer everything up to Him for confirmation. He will do mighty deeds for us when we trust Him with our everyday concerns.

Psalm 118:14-16 "The LORD is my strength and my song; he has become my salvation. Shouts of joy and victory resound in the tents of the righteous: The LORD's right hand has done mighty things! The LORD's right hand is lifted high; the LORD's right hand has done mighty things!"

This is God's promise. His decisions in our life will make us strong. His decisions for our life will give us peace.

John 16:33 "I have told you these things, so that in me you will have peace. In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world."

Who better then to be in charge of your life situations than the God who has overcome the world.

God bless.
