Romans 8:35-39
Can anything ever separate us from Christ’s love? Does it mean he no longer loves us if we have trouble or calamity, or are persecuted, or hungry, or destitute, or in danger, or threatened with death? (As the Scriptures say, “For your sake we are killed every day; we are being slaughtered like sheep.”) No, despite all these things, overwhelming victory is ours through Christ, who loved us. And I am convinced that nothing can ever separate us from God’s love. Neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither our fears for today nor our worries about tomorrow—not even the powers of hell can separate us from God’s love. No power in the sky above or in the earth below—indeed, nothing in all creation will ever be able to separate us from the love of God that is revealed in Christ Jesus our Lord.
What a wonderful promise. Nothing can ever separate us from God's love.
This scripture blows me away because it means here and now nothing can separate us from God's love. Do we really understand this promise? And if so are we living according to this promise?
God never wants to be separated from us. I never want to be separated from God's love. Why would I? Why would anyone? The benefits are so incredible as written in psalm 103:2-13.
Let all that I am praise the Lord;
may I never forget the good things he does for me.
He forgives all my sins
and heals all my diseases.
He redeems me from death
and crowns me with love and tender mercies.
He fills my life with good things.
My youth is renewed like the eagle’s!
The Lord gives righteousness
and justice to all who are treated unfairly.
He revealed his character to Moses
and his deeds to the people of Israel.
The Lord is compassionate and merciful,
slow to get angry and filled with unfailing love.
He will not constantly accuse us,
nor remain angry forever.
He does not punish us for all our sins;
he does not deal harshly with us, as we deserve.
For his unfailing love toward those who fear him
is as great as the height of the heavens above the earth.
He has removed our sins as far from us
as the east is from the west.
The Lord is like a father to his children,
tender and compassionate to those who fear him.
God will not constantly accuse us. He does not punish us for all our sins. He does not deal harshly with us, as we deserve. He has removed our sins as far from us as the east is from the west.The Lord is like a father to his children, tender and compassionate to those who fear him.
This is God's love for us. A love that will let nothing separate us from Him. This is God's gift to us. From Heaven he wants us to know of this incredible love. His arms wider than the universe, embracing us, sinners all, into His Heart, into His Kingdom. We are God's beloved. This is an awesome reality. God's desire to have us in His Kingdom with Him and nothing can separate us from God's love, from this end.
Are we celebrating this in our worship, in our lives, with others? Are our prayers confident in this belief? Are we experiencing God's love in our ministries and bringing Heaven to earth with miracles, and gifts of the Holy Spirit?
Nothing can separate us from God's love, so be bold, be brave, be believers and be beneficiaries of His Victory.
God bless.
