Wow that was powerful

I have just put my all time favourite book down.The main character is so real on every page, he could be a next door neighbour or a colleague at work. The story gripped me as I read page after page of his heroic deeds that caused division and healing. Its effect will stay with me for the rest of my life. Yes, the good guy won, but he went through a minefield of emotions and personal loss to do so. 

Some characters just get you right there in the heart.

My question today

When reading do you tend to stay with the same author or are you eclectic? 

My reading has changed over the years. To begin with, I liked autobiographies as I found them inspiring. Then I read Lord Of The Rings, Narnia and Ted Dekker novels and my love for other fictitious worlds grew. With teenagers in the house, I like to read what they are reading so that we can discuss the book and its contents. 

So what is your cup of tea in the book world, what doors do you like to open?

Did you guess the book I was reading?

Oh and the name of the book I just finished, The Gospel according to John from the Holy Bible. And the main character was Jesus.

How to make a difference - review a Christian book and make an author happy!

That book you had published, how's it going? 

A deafening silence fills the room with the anticipated answer. A nervous shuffle, lips parting then closing again as the right words are being formulated, then dismissed. 

That well?

So often no news is good news, but in the case of a book that has tormented the author with blood and tears during the years of writing and trying to get it published, no news is definitely not good news.  

You see sales but no reviews - oh how I can relate, do you?

So what is happening? 

• Did you like it and just forget to review it?
• Read it and decided better to say nothing in case you upset the author? 
• Simply started it and put it down finding it useful as a door stop.
• Put it on your "to read" pile that might get read in five years time!
• Maybe it fell down behind the bedside cabinet and is collecting dust waiting to be remembered and retrieved.
• Perhaps the beginning didn't hook you and you found a more interesting book to read instead.

Meanwhile, the author, the creator of the work, waits patiently for the reviews to come..... Is anyone out there? 😞

The market is flooded with books, so much choice and what to choose. Reviews help with that choice. You are making a huge difference by taking a moment to comment, good or bad on a book you have enjoyed or been dissatisfied with. Your opinion does matter.

What happens when you review a book? 

• You bring that book to the attention of others whether it is a good or bad review.
• Your review may influence others in deciding whether or not to buy the book.
• You will help the ratings.
• You will help the author understand if she has connected with her readers and that the book is not propping up a wobbly table. 
• Your opinion will matter in the future when the author undergoes her next 'work in progress'.
• You may not make the author rich, but she will be very grateful that you have taken the time to comment on the novel. 😄

At this point, the author may well be jumping up and down, it does not take too much to please this particular author. You, my readers, are a delight to write for.

Introduction - who am I

Introduction - who am I

Hi, 

My name is Margaret Kazmierczak. 

I am a wife and mother of three children and live in England. 

I love to write and blog especially encouraging other christians. 

On September 19th this year (2016) my ebook, How to Make Victoria Sponge, was published by Celebrate Lit Publishing. 

I loved writing this book as it took me on a journey of faith. It challenged me to think more deeply about how God is part of my life. 

Here is a sample from Chapter One.

   I believe that two elephants are descending the stairs as the racket is deafening.

  ‘Mind the light’ the kid’s father reminds them as they jump the last four steps. Too late, there is a ping and the light blows as Henry head butts it out of the way. Johnny is the first to the kitchen and picks up a plate with eggs and bacon on it. His hair is all over the place and it looks and smells like he did a spot lick instead of having a shower.

   Oh Lord, wash me clean from my sins and renew my flagging spirit.

   ‘Thanks mum’ he says and opens the fridge. He downs a pint of milk in one go and puts the empty bottle back. He then takes half a loaf of bread for his lunch and leaves for school.

   ‘What about your sandwiches son?’ my husband asks.

   ‘I've got them’ he calls out, not realizing that the half a loaf of bread was for the other sandwiches I need to make for the hungry mob that is left. 

   Oh Lord, give me wise words to feed my children with each day. Help me to point them to your LOVE and quench their thirst.

Victoria Sponge lives a normal family life. Her life is full of chaos, with both funny and tragic events filling her week. 

It is so easy to live and fit God in whenever we can, however, this book shows that our friendship with our Heavenly Father can be so much more. 

Come and see, don't settle for crumbs when you can have the whole cake.
